Hi. I'm Chris Kiper.

I started Reflective Designworks in 2018, putting 15 years of experience designing, organizing, communicating, planning, managing, drawing, modeling, metal working, wood working, and building under one roof. I'm passionate about making design accessible, understanding the people I work with and solving problems.

I grew up in Stratham, New Hampshire.  I spent a few years chasing waves in California and then moved to Vermont where I met my love Katharine. We started our family in Burlington and then settled in East Montpelier where we added two more children and a Wheaten Terrier. We recently moved to York, Maine seeking our next adventure, closeness of family and the solace of the ocean.

A bit about my past work. I founded my previous business Anomal Design + Fabrication with a partner and co-operated it from 2014 - 2017. In 2012 I started Lifecycle Integration, a facility management consultancy serving commercial, food service and property management firms. From 2005 to 2011 I served as Director of Operations for Healthy Living Natural Food Market in South Burlington, VT overseeing the physical plant and systems functionality for the 35,000 sq/ft facility. From 2001 to 2004 I worked in the Burlington, VT area as a house painter, carpenter, and touring musician. Throughout my time in VT I attended various courses at Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Warren, VT from Timberframing to Ecological Planning to Permaculture Design Certification.

Here's the idea behind the name: my work is a reflection of your vision. While I thrive when contributing creative input and can lead the design process, I'm equally satisfied with translating my clients ideas into a practical and beautiful reality. I facilitate an enjoyable process, but the goal is a successful project.

My goal with this work is to be exceptionally helpful and offer great value. To me that means providing useful services, at a reasonable cost while maintaining high quality. I strive to consider the ecological impacts of the design, the long-term durability and regional appropriateness. I want to work with good people and bring their vision to life.
